Achini Ramachandran, online counsellor for women, teenagers and couples
Hello, I'm Achini

A space where you feel safe, understood, and free to heal.

I'm Achini Ramachandran, a Counsellor working online with women, teenagers, and couples, wherever they are in the world. This work is very close to my heart. I believe every person deserves to feel emotionally safe and valued.

I especially look out for women and children carrying quiet emotional burdens, stress, or life challenges that feel too heavy to carry alone. My aim is to offer a gentle, non-judgmental space where you feel safe to open up at your own pace.

In our sessions, I listen deeply and work with you in a calm, supportive way. I believe healing comes naturally when there is trust, understanding and compassion. Never pressure. Together, we work toward clarity, emotional balance and inner strength.

How I can help

Whatever you're carrying, you don't have to carry it alone.

Common reasons people reach out. You don't need a diagnosis or the right words to begin. Just a sense that something feels heavier than it should.

Anxiety & overthinking

Racing thoughts, worry that won't switch off, or a constant background hum of unease.

Low mood & depression

Feeling flat, exhausted, or disconnected from things that used to bring you joy.

Living between two cultures

Identity, belonging and the quiet tension of never feeling fully "from" anywhere.

Homesickness & migration stress

The loneliness of being far away, guilt about family, and starting over in a new country.

Relationships, family & marriage

Communication, boundaries with family, cultural expectations, and couples work.

Life transitions

Moving abroad, a new job, becoming a parent, or any season where the ground shifts.

Grief & loss

Mourning a person, a place, or a life you imagined. Including loss felt from far away.

Burnout & work stress

Running on empty, pressure to provide, and the cost of always being the strong one.

Self-worth & people-pleasing

Quieting the inner critic, setting boundaries, and learning that your needs count too.

My philosophy

I work in a warm, collaborative and culturally sensitive way, drawing on person-centred and relational approaches. Every session is shaped by what you bring. Sessions are trauma-informed, judgement-free and confidential. I work under clinical supervision so you always get the best care I can offer.

Questions, answered

Yes. Research shows that online therapy works just as well as face-to-face sessions for anxiety, low mood, stress and many other areas. And a lot of people find it easier to open up when they're somewhere familiar and comfortable.

Absolutely. I work with Sri Lankans across the Gulf, the UK, Australia, Canada and beyond, and offer evening and weekend slots to make sessions work around your schedule. We'll find a time that fits your life.

Yes, I work with teenagers (13+) and welcome young people into my practice. Sessions with under-18s require written consent from a parent or guardian before we begin. I take safeguarding seriously: if I have concerns about a young person's safety or wellbeing, I have a duty to act in their best interests, which I will always discuss openly. Please get in touch to talk through how sessions for your teenager or child would work.

Sessions are available in English. Sinhala is also available upon request. Just let me know what feels most comfortable for you.

Yes. What you share stays private between us, within the standard ethical and legal limits of therapy (for example, where there's a serious risk of harm). I'll explain exactly how confidentiality works in our first session.

That's completely normal, and completely okay. You don't need a script or the right words. We'll go at your pace and I'll help guide the conversation. Most people start by describing what's been feeling hard lately.

No. I provide talking therapy (counselling and psychotherapy), not medication. If medication might help, I can talk it through with you and suggest seeing a doctor or psychiatrist alongside our work.

Sessions are paid in advance to confirm your booking. I accept bank transfer and Wise (for international clients). Payment details are shared after the introductory call. Please give at least 24 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule. Late cancellations may be charged the full session fee.
